System Setting Tips - SYSTEM Button in the Main Menu Bar

Turn on the Clock. You have to know when it’s quittin’ time!

  1. Select the System Config. . button in the drop down menu
  2. Select the Clock Running box, then press OK

Turn off those Delete and Overwrite notices - Use caution here! This tip is for experienced users of Elixir.

  1. Select the Usage Switches. . button in the drop down menu
  2. Click once on the Confirm File Deletions and Confirm File Overwrites boxes to remove the check mark
  3. Press OK

Check the Health of your system with the Desktop Diagnostics feature shown below.

  1. Select the Diagnostics. . button
  2. Notice the System Diagnostics: entries - this is great troubleshooting info

Before calling Tech Support - know what version of software you are running

  1. Click on the SYSTEM then Diagnostics. . button
  2. Now click once on the View Install LOG button
  3. A dialog box will appear that displays all the Elixir software and revision levels that have  been installed on your P/C
  4. Note: The install info is stored in the INSTALL.LOG file located in the drive:\ELIXIR directory.  This file can be viewed with any text editor or printed as needed

Test your Elixir Keys

  1. Select the Diagnostics. . button
  2. In the Run Diagnostic: section, click on the Show Installed ElixiKeys button
  3. A status window will appear showing you what keys are working
  4. If all of your keys aren’t displayed, try unplugging them then re-attach them to your P/C
  5. Repeat the test process

Protect Your Elixir Keys!

  1. Never plug a voltage meter into the key - it will kill ‘em dead
  2. Keep them away from static electricity
  3. Keep them dry - if you spill coffee on them, unplug ‘em and let them dry out thoroughly before using
  4. Don’t use LapLink or other parallel file transfer packages with the keys installed
